Vintage Shabby Chic Serving Bowl with Yellow Roses and a Lustreware Rim

It is not time or opportunity that is to determine intimacy; it is disposition alone... Jane Austen

{HISTORY}

Oh the romance of unmarked dishware! This vintage (possibly antique) serving bowl is filled with so much time-worn character we can hardly stand it.

Heavy in weight (1.7lbs!) but delicate in design, this beauty shimmers and shines with a pale peach lustreware rim that compliments the shadowed petals of three yellow roses at the bowl's center. Staining, finely webbed crazing marks and a hairline crack signify the years, and the adventures, that this bowl has experienced as it traveled through history decade by decade.

Around here, we love a dish that makes you stop and look - really look - at all the details that make up the composition of a serving piece. Here we have transferware, embossed detailing and an iridescent glaze that puts the F in fancy, all juxtapositioned against an authentic, time-worn, shabby chic patina. These two opposite aesthetics add so much unique one-of-a-kind charm to this vintage kitchen worker.

All day long, we could imagine a dozen different scenarios in which this bowl sailed through the century. From life in a cozy cottage to breakfast buffets in a fancy manor house to elegant tea parties set out in the garden amongst the real-life roses, the fun part of not knowing exactly who made a specific piece of dishware, or when, or where, becomes part of the fun in and of itself.

The one who falls in love with this bowl will be a daydreamer with a lively imagination and a whimsical way with words. We guarantee it!
